The festival was themed around a well-known phrase: “A museum is its people.” The exhibition gave visitors a behind-the-scenes look at museums, revealing processes usually hidden from view and sharing stories about museum workers dedicated every day to studying and preserving cultural heritage. These professionals come from many fields — curators, keepers, custodians, and more — all equally essential for museums to continue their work.

Each museum has its unique distinction, and the exhibition highlighted these traits, telling stories about the oldest and smallest museums, the largest collections, and more.

Over 40 Russian museum institutions took part, presenting their artifacts and stories, including the State Hermitage, the Pushkin State Museum of Fine Arts, the Bakhrushin Theatre Museum, the All-Russian Museum of Decorative Arts, the Tsarskoye Selo and Kizhi museums-reserves, ROSPHOTO, the Polytechnic Museum, the Museum of Moscow, and others.
