When developing architectural lighting for this private home, we drew inspiration from the aesthetics of Japandi—a refined and understated blend of Japanese simplicity and Scandinavian functionality. This style resonates with the clients and is reflected in both the interior and the exterior of the house. It helped us augment and accentuate certain aspects of the building, without being noticeable.
We discovered a lighting language that harmoniously interacts with the building’s facade, especially the stone cladding, highlighting its texture and volume. The final solution features thin lines of light that gently trace the surface like a sumi-e artist’s brush, enhancing the natural texture and expressiveness of the material and keeping everything in balance
We paid extra attention to the inner courtyard, a peaceful retreat zone. Here, upward-facing ground lights softly illuminate the wooden wall cladding, making a nice contrast. Above the tables, several pendant lights with warm diffused glow make the space feel whole and give it a sense of calm and quiet presence.

In this concept, light is not just a functional element: it is an extension of the architecture itself.
